The university mandates using QWS3270 Secure Emulator 4.0, which is freeware and can be downloaded from the Rutgers University Software Download Portal.
When you open the QWS telnet program, manually connect to rutadmin.rutgers.edu (or ask your computer support person to set it up to automatically connect to rutadmin). When you get to the main menu, you will have to choose from among 20+ menu options.
If you wish the choose an option # less than or equal to 12, then simply hit the F_ key, where _ represents the option number. For instance, if you wish to choose option 8, click the F8 key.
If you wish to choose an option from 13 to 24, then you have to use the SHIFT key as well. In this case, think of the shift key as the number 12, and you need to press the F_ key which, when added to 12, would give you the desired option number. Lets assume that you want option 15. Then you must hit both the SHIFT and F3 buttons, because 12 + 3 = 15. Likewise, if you wanted choice 20, you would press SHIFT+F8 (12 + 8 = 20).
All other keys should work as expected in IMS.
